US Mint Sales Figures ImageLincoln Formative Year cents are on fire, UHR $20 gold coins are selling at a level pace, demand for Braille Bicentennial Dollars has picked up slightly, and Puerto Rico quarter sales are mixed.

The second redesigned 2009 Lincoln cent went on sale Thursday, May 14. By Sunday, a mind-blasting 200,055 of the two-roll sets were sold. (See 20 Million Lincoln Rail Splitter Pennies Sold.)

Although the public is happier with improved access to the new pennies, collectors are generally disappointed as US Mint sales continue with no apparent end in sight, making the cents far from "scarce." Guam quarters in US Mint bags and rolls2009 Guam Quarters in coin bags and two-roll sets will be available on Tuesday, May 26, the US Mint said in a press statement Wednesday.

The public can purchase the new quarter-dollars directly from the Mint’s online store. The two-roll set includes 40 commemorative quarters minted in Philadelphia with the "P" mintmark and 40 coins from Denver with the "D" mintmark. The price tag is $32.95.

The Guam quarters are also packaged in 100-coin bags for $32.95 and 1,000-coin bags for $309.95.

The Mint’s production of 2009 quarters has plummeted during the recession as the public has been feeding loose change back into the banking system, instead of the other way around. As a result, finding 2009 coins in circulation is quite challenging, making US Mint rolls and coin bags all the more popular with collectors.
