A Tale of Money from the High Seas

Among the rarities that sold in Nobles’ multi-million dollar Melbourne auction in July of last year was a uniface proof of a 19th century four-shilling note drawn on the London office of the Southern Whale Fishery Co. but for issue in the Auckland Islands. On auction day it fetched just more than $8,700.

Puerto Rico’s coin enchants its supporters

The commonwealth of Puerto Rico will soon have a U.S. Mint commemorative quarter with the Spanish words Isla del Encanto — Island of Enchantment — stamped on one side. On Monday, the U.S. Treasury approved the design of the coin, which will be part of the popular U.S. states series.

Austria €20 Empress Elisabeth Railway Silver Coin
